Born in Macau, China Steve Hu migrated to Hawaii as a teenager. After receiving his BFA degree from the University of Hawaii Steve continued his venture in art taking workshop and classes with local and renowned artists to further his knowledge and skill in painting. There was a long pause of two decades not creating any art until the artist moved to Washington state in the late 1990's. With watercolor as his preferred medium, Hu was able to combine his dedicated work ethics to create art from sketches, photographic notations and memories while traveling in the Pacific Northwest and surroundings in life. Not to duplicate in realistic likeness, but to convey his impression, feeling or emotion through paint and brush and share with the viewers.
Landscape is Steve Hu's favorite subject, looking at his paintings, the viewers can share the heartwarming, colorful blend of impressionistic romance and occasionally depict the artist's Chinese cultural heritage. Hu's bright and delicate landscapes focus on his love of nature and his ability to enhance the earth's natural beauty with brush and paint.
Steve Hu's work has become private collections of fine art collectors, business professionals and corporations. Currently Hu is a member of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters, American Society of Marine Artists and Eastside Association of Fine Arts.
